Jeollanamdo´s Shop-in-Shop in Bad Homburg

On October 18th, the Jeollanamdo Europe Office opened their second shop-in-shop at the K-Shop in Bad Homburg near Frankfurt in Germany. Several high-ranking representatives of Korean companies officially opened the shop-in-shop that offers many different kinds of snacks, cooking ingredients or tea from Jeollanamdo.

Visitors will especially find many different seaweed products in the “Jeollanamdo corner” since the province Jeollanamdo is very well known for its seaweed. They can also look forward to finding Boseong Green Tea, rice from Jeollanamdo, seaweed noodles and sweet rice snacks.

The K-Shop was opened by Panasia, one of Europe’s biggest Asian food product importers. Panasia has several offline markets around Europe, including Germany and Austria, and is the first offline partner of Jeollanamdo Europe.

Visit Jeollanamdo Year 2022-2023

The “Visit Jeollanamdo Year 2022-2023” shall help the province Jeollanamdo to increase the number of tourists by holding special events and promoting Jeollanamdo’s beauty and variety.

The “SNS Global Supporters” of the “Visit Jeollanamdo Year” recorded short videos filled with slogans about different places in Jeollanamdo. They recorded their videos in different cities around the globe speaking different languages in the videos.

The Jeollanamdo Europe Office participated in the event as well and contributed videos from different countries in Europe including Germany, France, Austria and the UK. Furthermore, the Jeollanamdo Europe Office will keep working on promoting Jeollanamdo in Europe on Social Media and through different offline events in Europe.

Jeollanamdo Europe at the K – Food Fair in Paris

On July 8 and 9 it was the fourth time for the K – Food Fair to be held in Paris. This year the B2B meeting event, organized by the Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corp. (aT Center), was held at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris and not just business people found their way to the festival.

Different Korean brands got the chance to show their variety in products, get in touch with other businesses and promote their products to all the visitors passing by.

The visitors did not only walk around the variety of booths but could also indulge in Korean food at the food stalls, enjoy cooking classes, colorful stage events filled with Taekwondo and K – Pop Dance Cover Performances and could play traditional Korean games. One of the booths that people could visit was the “Jeollanamdo – The Kitchen of Korea” booth. Jeollanamdo promoted various products from local producers and informed the visitors about the brand “The Kitchen of Korea” by introducing the brand to visitors and giving away food samples for free.

Jeollanamdo signs Joint Venture Agreement for Offshore Wind

On Tuesday (March 8th), Jeollanamdo signed a joint venture agreement with Danish offshore wind power company Vestas and CS Wind a Korean company.

The ceremony was hosted by the Danish ambassador to Korea, Einar H. Jensen in the Danish embassy in Seoul. The agreement was signed by Jeollanamdo’s Governor Kim Yung-rok and Vestas president and CEO Henrik Andersen as well as CS Wind chairman Kim Sung-kwon.

The agreement is the next step in Jeollanamdo’s ambitious plan to establish the world’s largest offshore wind farm at the size of 8.2 GW. Through the joint venture, Vestas and CS-Wind plan to establish competitive production facilities for assembling wind towers, blades and turbines in Jeollanamdo.

Korea Institute of Energy Technology (Kentech) in Naju welcomes its first students

On Wednesday (March 2nd) the Korea Institue of Energy Technology (Kentech) welcomed its first students at its brand new campus in Naju, Jeollanamdo. Kentech is Korea’s first and only university dedicated to energy studies, vowing to foster global talents in fight of climate change and to master the transition to renewable green energy.

The major research areas of Kentech are energy artificial intelligence (AI), new energy materials, the next-generation grid, hydrogen energy, and environmental and climate technology.

The university plans with up to 1,000 students and 100 professors by 2025, the long-term goal is to establish Kentech as one of the world’s top 10 universities by 2050.
