Planned industrial location
The proposed site covers approximately 3.47 million square metres in Hyeongyeong-myeon. According to Invest KOREA’s September 2026 update, 98 companies had signed investment agreements covering around half of the planned industrial facility land. These included 35 renewable-energy companies, seven K-food businesses and 56 companies in AI-related agricultural and advanced industries.
Alongside these sectors, the development strategy targets semiconductor materials, components and equipment, as well as logistics. Plans draw on connections to Muan International Airport, the Honam high-speed railway and the Muan–Gwangju Expressway, with the proposed park intended to complement the region’s semiconductor development.
The September report describes a candidate site selected in August 2026, with formal designation and approval still being pursued at that time. The agreements reflect intended investment rather than completed factories.
Let’s explore the possibilities.
